FAQ

What are the benefits of renters insurance?

If you are a tenant and a loss happens on the premises, the property owners insurance will not provide coverage for your property. A renters policy typically provides coverage for personal property, liability and additional living expenses, up to the policy limits. Renters insurance is incredibly affordable and often can be packaged with your auto insurance policy.

Why are some vehicles more expensive to insure than others?

Every vehicle is assigned a specific rating symbol that is used in determining the premium. Some of the factors that determine the rating symbol are: cost to repair/replace, availability of parts, frequency of theft and engine size. There are also many other factors that influence rating: age of driver, driver violations and claims history, etc.

Will reporting a claim affect my rates?

Filing a claim may affect your rates. Your auto insurance rates are based in part on your driving experience. Contact your agent if you have questions about whether or not to report a claim.
Also, ask your agent for ways to reduce your rates.

Can I switch my homeowners insurance company when set up in escrow?

Yes! You can make changes to your insurance company at any time, even if your homeowners premium is set up in an escrow account. Your agent can often contact your mortgage company on your behalf to inform them of the change and to forward proof of the new insurance policy for their records.

How do I cover customizations to my recreational vehicle?

You will want to make sure to discuss with your agent any customizations, aftermarket parts and upgrades you have made to your recreational vehicle. Oftentimes, your policy will automatically include a specific amount of coverage for “Optional Equipment”. You will want to verify with your agent that this amount of coverage will be sufficient. Your agent may ask what upgrades and/or customizations you have made.

What is not covered by an auto insurance policy?

Your auto insurance policy will not cover intentional damage, general maintenance or wear and tear. Your agent will discuss coverages with you during a policy review and/or at time of policy purchase.
